I’m Shannon…
At 30 years old I was officially diagnosed as an AuDult (Autistic and ADHD). The journey’s been rewarding, confusing, frustrating, freeing, amongst other things that I’m still navigating. One thing I’ve realized is the amount of late and under diagnosed individuals there are, so I want to do something about it. Thus, Maintaining Shanity was born.
With my page I plan to share my authentic experiences as I navigate my life with a new lens. I’ll be sharing things like resources, tips, and stories with my personal experience of AuDulthood. Neurodiversity isn’t a one size fits all care plan so what I share isn’t a personal prescription or road map towards treating your own experiences of AuDulting. What I share is my way of taking up space, showing we exist, and informing others of my own experience with the lessons and learnings of being late diagnosed.
If you come across my page and what I say resonates or stirs up questions, then I recommend taking the time to sit with what comes up and, if moved to, seek medical guidance with a provider you trust. I’m in no way trained or certified to offer medical guidance (yet…) so any inquiries or questions related to such will be redirected towards a professional or resource.
